Poor working conditions, lack of regulation, and minimal compensation are all consequences of the political corruption within the gold mining industry in Burkina Faso, Africa. This documentary describes and depicts the inner workings of this country’s mining practices and exposes how work being legal does not always ensure acceptable conditions. As the workers risk their lives to make a living, Gold Dust shows what it means to do this work, and the impact it has on them and their families.
