Docademia Supports Filmmakers

Docademia is a new way to make money from your films while sharing your ideas with a new generation of North American university students.

During each academic year, Docademia holds short documentary competitions. We award cash prizes to the top selections of short documentaries that focus on a specific humanities theme. You will have the opportunity to license your film through Docademia. You will also receive distribution deals to collect royalties when your film is purchased by teachers and institutions of higher learning.

Our Short Documentary Challenge is FREE to enter.

How it works

We invite social documentary filmmakers to submit their work on a curated theme. A jury of academics selects the top short films. We then develop teaching materials for the selected films and pay the filmmakers royalties each time their documentary is purchased and downloaded on our distribution platform.
