Congratulation to the TEN finalists of Docademia’s 2nd Contest!
After a thorough review of more than one thousand documentary film submissions to our 2nd contest, we’re happy to announce the top 10 documentaries as the finalists of the 2nd Contest. We asked our team of reviewers to consider each film in four categories: film aesthetics, content, topic, and bias. The finalist films should not only be visually engaging but should also tell a complete story about women’s challenges in public spaces without prejudice.
Our 10 finalists are:
- Beneath the Embers
- Heart Sisters
- Hide and seek
- Inner Me
- Mwavita, born at the time of war
- The Construct: Female Laborers and the Fight for Equality
- The Knit Doll
- The People’s Girls
- Together Apart
Our Jury Committee of university faculty members in the field of social justice and women’s studies are currently evaluating the ten films to select the top three films of the contest. The results will be announced at our Award Ceremony at 1871 Chicago on Aug. 9th, and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive cash prizes of $700, $300, $150, respectively.
Stay tuned for more details about the event and exciting updates!
