As this was our first contest, we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but with 529 submissions from 88 countries, we couldn’t have hoped for a better turn out. With numbers like these, we knew we needed some extra help reviewing the films.

We found a team of highly-qualified interns from Bowling Green State University’s MACIE program to form our team of power reviewers! Our interns spent months reviewing all of the films to get us down to our top 6 Early Childhood films. Narrowing a giant list of great films into such a short list was a difficult task and we are so grateful to our interns for all of their hard work.

Once we had our top picks, it was time to send them to our jury committee. We asked the members of the jury to review each film through 4 categories: film aesthetics, content, topic, and bias. The top three winning films should not only be visually engaging, but should also tell a complete story about Early Childhood without prejudice. Our jurors are experts in their fields and after much deliberation they were able to declare a winner.
